Nowadays, brands, influents or society use hashtags in their social networks for different purposes.


A hashtag, or label, is a term preceded by the symbol # and used in some social networks to group the contents of a specific topic.


Before starting to design a hashtags strategy it is necessary to know some essential characteristics of a good hashtag:

~It is memorable. It should be easily recorded.

~ You should not only focus on your brand. In fact, hashtags that include the name of a brand are too frequent to work worse.

~ It must make sense.

~ Brief and simple.

~ It is usually the result of research into what users like.

~Relevant.

~ It can be used in any of the social networks.

~ It is consistent.


It is very important to keep these characteristics in mind when creating a hashtag.

There are three types of hashtags that can be used for a company. The first is the corporate hashtag, these have to be concise, catchy and most important, they have to be the only ones for the brand. Campaign hashtags are created specifically for a particular marketing action, with the goal of reinforcing the campaign and the brand. The second type is the content hashtag.


Remember NOT to make a hashtag of each word. Finally, trend hashtags are more complicated. But sometimes they add to the tendencies that can be counterproductive, as well as the assurance that the hashtag that is TT is related to your brand before considering launching yourself to it.


If you have decided to develop successful marketing actions in social networks, hashtags should be an essential part in the creation of your campaigns!
