Are hashtags for you or do you need a refresher after all the changes in Social Media country? Then these 10 tips offer a solution!
But first, what are hashtags?
Hashtags are most commonly used on Instagram and Twitter (and occasionally on Facebook), and are a creative way to give what you're talking about. Hashtags can actually be used for the following purposes:
to find messages of specific information about a particular subject
to share your thoughts in a reaction
to feel connected or to connect with a community
TIP 1: Hashtags, where do you start?
We advise you to look closely at your favorite Instagram accounts, or even some of your competitors, and discover what Instagram hashtags they are using. You will see that they use creative sentences and play with words.
TIP 2: Timing of Instagram hashtags
Hashtags are directly connected to the time you post a photo, so you want to use your hashtags at the moment that, or just after, you have placed a photo. Often you see that people add hashtags hours later, but this does not work. It is best to post your hashtags when you post a photo.
TIP 3: How many hashtags can I use to the maximum?
You can use as many as 30 hashtags per photo on Instagram, which you can combine with your normal text, a nice clause under the photo.
TIP 4: How many hashtags should I use?
There are a number of strong opinions about what the magic number is for the number of hashtags you use per photo. Through years of experience we have discovered that the more hashtags you use, the more eyes you see rolling, so use all those 30 hashtags if you want to use 30 hashtags.
TIP 5: A number of large Instagram accounts that I follow do not use hashtags at all? Why is that?
These accounts have already worked so hard that they already have enough loyal followers and their engagement rate is already high enough that when they post something they are already happy with their current Instagram range and they no longer find it necessary to use active hashtags. .
TIP 6: Should I use my name as one of my hashtags?
If your company name or your Instagram name is not yet known, we advise you not to use your name as a hashtag. This is because if people still do not know you, they will not actively search for your name. So they will not find your picture with that hashtag, so it is better to use a different hashtag to be found by your target group.
TIP 7: # f4f and # l4l
# f4f means, if you follow someone, they will follow you back, 'Follow for follow'. Just like # l4l means 'like for like'.
In our opinion, it is spam and it will not bring you decent followers (or customers).
TIP 8: How do I find Instagram hashtags that I can use?
Hashtag research can be done on Instagram itself. Instagram has a great option for you to search for hashtags. In addition, they show a number of related hashtags with a hashtag, always handy. There are also a number of tools that you can help with this.
We advise you to do some research on your niche, which hashtags are searched by your target group. Think a bit out of the box.
TIP 9: The use of a hashtag in a reaction to someone else's Instagram page
It's great to share a hashtag, make a nice comment, or to think that the other person should see the hashtag feed, but if you hope your photo will be added in an Instagram feed, it will not work. So it is better to just tag your own work.
TIP 10: Should I use the same Instagram hashtags with every post?
This is entirely up to you, it's your account! The Instagram algorithm finds it easier to categorize what type of Instagram account you have and so you can easily recommend it to others if you continue to use a number of hashtags consistently.
We would advise you to make a list for the best Instagram hashtags for you and make different groups of them. For example, if you have a post about shoes, create a group of hashtags for #sneakers and a group for #boots or #heels. Use some of the same tags, and also be creative, depending on the subject you are posting about.
